Orange Cream Truck at Lollapalooza
Every summer has a soundtrack, and for Lollapalooza weekend Starbucks created one uniquely fit for the moment. OBE and Starbucks tapped into the spirit and nostalgia of summer to introduce the Orange Cream Frappuccino® Blended Beverage with an unmistakable jingle of an ice cream truck rounding the corner coming from a custom truck that traveled around the city. The roaming, retro-inspired Orange Cream Truck met festivalgoers, Chicago locals, and visitors to enhance their summer of making memories.
A custom jingle and vintage speaker drew people in the way an ice cream truck always has, while a gigantic melting popsicle sculpture and playful retro design turned the truck into a destination worth stopping for and sharing. Terrell, Tinx, and Josiah joined the route alongside Chicago experts Jeremy's Jaunts and Epic Chicago. Terrell, Tinx, and Josiah all served up the Frappuccino themselves alongside Starbucks Green Apron partners, turning sampling into a peer-to-peer, culturally credible exchange. To engage people in the line, Terrell leveraged his social-first style Q&A approach, which drove home Starbucks' brand resonance with its guests and naturally engaged them.
The result was spontaneous, organic, consistent energy: dancing, content capture, joy, refreshment, and genuine connection between creators, partners, and guests. As one guest put it, "Tastes like my childhood!". Proof the experience delivered exactly what it set out to: summer nostalgia, one sip at a time.
