OBE
Annual Company Offsite
2005-Present
Once a year we gather all of OBE’s employees from across the U.S. to share stories, bond, learn from one another and have a whole lot of fun. This event brings together employees from our San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York offices—plus all full-time remote employees. Some are meeting each other in person for the first time. Others are reuniting since their last project together. All come to celebrate the success we’ve achieved and to reinvigorate the spark that drives us to push harder, dig deeper, imagine greater and strive for better.
An all-company offsite is a fine balance between business and play. We carefully craft a theme and agenda each year to leverage our time together—a well balanced mix of everything from an Executive state-of-the business address and DE&I training sessions to team award dinners, excursions and beach Olympics. Aligned with the theme, we integrate impactful guest speakers such as David Goggins, Kevin Rutherford, Dr. Vanessa Díaz, Clint Bruce and Cindy Elkin and curate moments for team building and connection with partners such as On Your Feet and our psychologist-in-residence Dr. Aron Steward.
Destinations have ranged from Las Vegas, Santa Barbara, Yosemite, San Diego and Palm Springs to our most recent international passport-stamper—Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
During the pandemic, we took our internal company offsite to another dimension.
As we approached 2021, we recognized our annual company offsite couldn’t happen in person. We also knew it was a prime opportunity to experiment and prototype. Our designers built a persistent, three day offsite metaverse, which included a main stage for keynotes and guest speakers, multiple breakout rooms for small group conversations, timed delivery of "work from home" swag, expensed lunches, and fun ways to find those spontaneous “hallway moments” and give the actually-together feel.
